The La Cañada Sports Association (LCSA) is pleased to announce that registration has begun for the 2010-2011 Season!
We are excited to enter our
11st season, offered to all boys and girls in the La Cañada-Flintridge area in the 3rd through 8th grade. |
|
The objective of the Spartan Basketball program is to serve, through the teaching of basketball skills in a well-organized program of practices and games, as many young people from the community of La Cañada-Flintridge and from surrounding communities as possible in: |
==> the development of self-esteem and positive self-image; <==
==> gaining the knowledge and experience of sportsmanship and teamwork; <==
==> providing an appreciation of fitness and physical exercise; and <==
==> the development of basketball skills and an appreciation of the game. <==
| | Any person (player-coach-spectator) who is detrimental to the above stated purpose through any unsportsmanlike behavior, negative rooting, or approaching referees, other players, other spectators, other coaches, or specifically not accepting referee’s decisions, using profane language, entering an area that is off-limits to them, may cause a game forfeiture (regardless of score), a technical foul being called, or the person may be asked to leave the premises. |
| Coaches and Parents are expected to recognize the objectives above, and to prioritize the attainment of those objectives for all of their players over conflicting objectives, such as victory in a particular game or cultivation of their own image. |
| In the best interest of the young players who are participating in this program, the following "Sportsmanship Code of Conduct" conditions will be in force guiding the actions of all coaches, spectators and parents |
| (1) | No profane language will be permitted. |
| (2) | No negative rooting. |
| (3) | Acceptance of Referees decisions. |
| (4) | No one allowed on playing floor except players. |
| (5) | No one other than players/official team staff allowed in the bench areas. |
| (6)
| When the game is over, unless there is an awards ceremony (Finals), all players, fans coaches should shake hands and then have their team meeting out in the hallway area outside the gym lobby. |
| Failure to comply with any one of these conditions could result in sanctions against a team, including forfeiture of game, technical fouls being called and/or person(s) being expelled from the premises. |

Traveling Teams |
Invitation Only
The LCSA will form travel basketball teams for boys ages 9-13 and girls ages 10-14 by invitation only. These travel teams are intended for those basketball players and families seriously committed to a more competitive level of basketball. Practices are held up to twice a week, in La Cañada-Flintridge and surrounding communities. Practices for 11 year olds and up may last until 10pm.
Recreational League Participation
We strongly encourage all traveling team players to play in the Recreational League with their friends, and we attempt (but cannot guarantee) to schedule games so as to minimize conflicts between the two leagues.
|
Valley Conference
Travel teams play in the Valley Conference. Games are held throughout the San Fernando Valley, from Northridge to San Fernando and Glendale. Games are both Saturdays and Sundays, and sometimes on both days. Senior players (ages 12 and up) play 13 games in 8 weeks, including weeknights.
