January 2010
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

La Canada Junior Baseball & Softball Association (LCJBSA) is celebrating our 55th season in 2010!  LCJBSA is comprised of over 1000 boys and girls from La Canada and neighboring communities.  LC Baseball is affiliated with Pony and Babe Ruth National Organizations while LC Softball is governed by ASA rules and regulations.

Friends of La Canada Junior Baseball Softball Association…

New this year we are extending an opportunity to all LCJBSA families to contribute and help make a difference.  Our objective is to raise funds that will directly benefit the fields within our community.  This year LCJBSA will install new backstop netting at the field on Cornishon and the JV Softball Field at Oak Grove.  Additionally, shade structures will be installed on the fields at LCE.  And, all of the baseball mounds at La Canada High School will be rebuilt.  In order to continue with these much needed improvements we need your help!  All contributions in excess of $50 will be recognized at the end of the season.  Please take this opportunity to give a little to this invaluable program and help make the fields in our community better!

What makes our league so successful?  The answer lies with the over 200 volunteers who oversee the league, manage and coach.  The answer lies with the over 50 sponsors who so generously give of their money and time.  The answer lies with the coordination of city officials, parks and recreation, schools and booster groups who unselfishly work in conjunction to see that our children have their complete support.
Finally, the answer lies with our community itself, the players and the parents who so fervently back this league and everything it stands for.

Welcome and Let’s Play Ball!

CONGRATULATIONS
We are eternally grateful to the hundreds of volunteers that make our organization successful.  Each year, however, we recognize three people/families for their special contributions.  Thank you to the following award recipients.

Terry Kay- Ed Davis/Gilbert Smith Award  - Given to an individual in the Association who has been generous with their time, talent and efforts for the betterment of the LCJBSA program.

Mark Trueblood - Ron Boerger Memorial Award  - Given to an individual who managed or coached in LCJBSA over a number of years, not necessarily for the record their team compiled in the previous seasons.

John Schiller – Kent States Award – Giving special recognition to an individual or organization who goes the extra mile for the Association and who may not be involved with LCJBSA on a day-to-day basis.

Steve Toland - Sam Maya Award - Awarded annually in recognition of that individual who best exemplifies "The Spirit of Teaching" in the LCJBSA Shetland Program.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED
We need adult volunteers for our program to be a successful and rewarding experience for our children.  Volunteer positions include team parent, game reporter, opening day assistant, coach and manager.  Those interested in managing or coaching are required to have a child in the league, and be committed to the principles of fair play and good sportsmanship. If interested, please check the manager or coach box on your child’s registration form.
